Heroin antidote helps save four lives in Randolph

The Morris County Prosecutor’s Office released that Narcan, a nasal spray antidote that helps combat the symptoms of opiate overdoses, was used to help save four people in random from succumbing to deadly overdoses. Narcan also helped save 42 people across all of Morris County. There were no accounts of Narcan being used to save a life in Mine Hill Township.

Overdose rescue – On Aug. 15, police responded to a medical problem on Hillside Avenue and discovered a 27-year-old Belleville man had overdosed on heroin. Officers Anderson Antonio and Christopher D’Alessio administered Narcon [Naloxone] to the victim to help regain consciousness. He was transported to a hospital for evaluation and was expected to recover.

Narcan administered
Police responded to a report of an unresponsive male at an apartment complex in Wharton on July 29 at 12:06 p.m. The 35-year-old male of Wharton displayed signs and symptoms consistent with an opioid drug overdose. The Wharton Police Department’s Narcan was administered to the male by EMS personnel and other treatment was provided. The male became responsive and was transported to the hospital.
